A protest in Washington D.C. took a tragic turn when a photojournalist set himself on fire outside the White House on Saturday night. The man, identified as Samuel Mena Jr., ignited his left arm during the demonstration.
Captured on video, Mena is seen in severe pain as flames engulf his arm. Police and bystanders rushed to help, using a water bottle to douse the fire.
Although Mena was clearly in agony, emergency responders arrived quickly and transported him to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, his injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

Mena was among protesters calling for an end to the violence in Gaza, which has intensified since the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023. The conflict, which has resulted in the deaths of thousands on both sides, remains ongoing with no resolution in sight.
