San Francisco Woman Fatally Pushed into BART Train

In a tragic event that has shaken the San Francisco Bay Area, a 74-year-old woman was pushed into an arriving commuter train, leading to her untimely death. The incident occurred on Monday night, shortly after 11 p.m., at the Powell Street station, a central hub in downtown San Francisco.

According to authorities from Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), the woman, identified as Corazon Dandan, was pushed from behind and hit her head on the incoming train. She then fell onto the platform. Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital.

Corazon Dandan was a dedicated telephone operator at a downtown hotel. On the night of the incident, she was on her way home after finishing her shift. Her nephew, Alvin Dandan, spoke to local media about her hardworking nature and the deep sense of loss the family is experiencing. Both the San Francisco Chronicle and the San Francisco Standard reported on her dedication to her job and her close-knit family.

A 49-year-old man described by police as transient was apprehended shortly after the incident. He was booked into jail early Tuesday morning. As of now, BART police have not disclosed a motive for the attack, and the investigation remains ongoing.
