 A tragic mid-air collision occurred Wednesday night near Reagan Washington National Airport, involving an American Airlines regional jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter.

American Airlines confirmed that Flight 5342, operated by PSA Airlines under the American Eagle brand, was flying from Wichita, Kansas, to Washington, D.C., when it collided with the military helicopter.
