The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has addressed concerns following videos circulating on social media showing alleged misconduct by an off-duty officer at Rebel’s birthday party. The footage appears to show the officer participating in violent acts under the direction of event organizer Romeich.
In a statement, the JCF confirmed it immediately launched an internal investigation through its Inspectorate Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) upon learning of the incident.
However, the matter has since been handed over to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) for an independent inquiry. The JCF has pledged full cooperation with INDECOM and emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability.
Addressing questions about the officer, referred to as "Andre," the JCF clarified that its members are allowed to take on private jobs, known as “extra work,” under strict guidelines established in March 2018.
These rules ensure that off-duty work does not conflict with their responsibilities or compromise professional standards.
The JCF reiterated that all officers, whether on or off duty, are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct. Any violations of policy or law will result in appropriate disciplinary action.
