Lascelles Morgan, the taxi operator accused of abducting and killing 29-year-old teacher Danielle Anglin, has died following an apparent suicide attempt.
Morgan passed away on Monday at the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for injuries sustained in his jail cell.
Authorities discovered Morgan hanging from the ceiling of his cell shortly after he returned from a court appearance. Despite emergency efforts to save him, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Anglin, a beloved teacher at St. Peter Claver Primary School, was reported missing on May 13, 2024, after leaving her home in Hellshire, St. Catherine, to go to work.
She was last seen boarding an InDrive taxi, sparking a widespread search effort. Tragically, her remains were found three weeks later in Salt River, Clarendon, after an intense investigation by police.
Morgan was arrested after confessing to the crime and had been in custody since early November. His death closes a grim chapter in a case that has left a community heartbroken and calling for justice.
