A heartwarming story has emerged from the aftermath of the recent hurricane in Tampa, where a dog named Trooper, was left tied to a fence in rising floodwaters by his owner. Fortunately, Trooper was rescued and has since found a foster home that may soon become his forever home.
Trooper’s former owner was arrested and charged with aggravated animal cruelty for abandoning the dog during the storm. Since his rescue, Trooper has received overwhelming attention, with hundreds of applications from individuals experienced with his breed.
According to TMZ Katie Stryker from the Leon County Humane Society, Trooper is no longer accepting adoption applications as his foster family has the option to adopt him.
While Trooper’s story has touched many hearts, it hasn’t sparked the expected surge in shelter adoptions. Katie hopes that the attention surrounding Trooper’s rescue will inspire others to adopt the millions of dogs still waiting for homes in shelters across the country.
