Hussain attempted to flee on foot into a nearby field, but the rhino, capable of running up to 34 miles per hour, quickly caught up with him.

Despite the efforts of onlookers who tried to scare the animal away, the rhino fatally injured Hussain with a devastating head injury.

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is home to one of the largest populations of one-horned rhinos in India, and authorities are now investigating how the rhino managed to escape.
