Two teens are facing serious charges after an ill-advised attempt to operate a New York City subway train in Queens. The NYPD recently released surveillance footage showing the two suspects inside a dark subway car before their brief, chaotic joyride.
The suspects, a 17-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, were seen in the footage wearing a distinct combination of outfits: the girl donned a full pink ensemble with a matching shower cap, while the boy sported a blue tank top and red athletic shorts.

Although the video only shows the duo walking through the subway car, authorities claim they managed to start the train, moving it approximately 50 feet before losing control and crashing it.
The female suspect was arrested on Wednesday and is now facing charges of first-degree criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. The following day, police tracked down and arrested the male suspect, who has been charged with two counts of first-degree criminal mischief and one count of reckless endangerment.
This reckless stunt has raised concerns about subway safety and how the teens were able to access the train controls. The NYPD is continuing its investigation into the incident.
