Explosion at New Kingston Burger King Leaves Six Employees Hospitalized

An explosion at a Burger King restaurant in New Kingston on Wednesday morning left six employees hospitalized. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. at the Knutsford Boulevard location, with the blast shattering the front windows of the building and scattering glass across the sidewalk.

Footage from the scene shows an injured employee lying outside the restaurant, while emergency responders worked to assist those affected.

The restaurant had recently been renovated, and reports indicate that at least four of the injured workers are in serious condition. Although the exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation, early reports suggest it may have been triggered by a gas leak.

According to the Jamaica Fire Brigade Commissioner, Stewart Beckford, staff had called the gas supplier after discovering the leak. A faulty regulator was replaced, and employees were cleared to return to work before the explosion occurred.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the blast to prevent any further incidents.
