Authorities confirmed that Perry died on Sunday following a shark attack in Oahu, Hawaii. His body was discovered by local surfers off Mālaekahana Beach, with reports indicating that his arm and leg were missing.
The attack was witnessed by a bystander near Goat Island on Oahu's North Shore, according to Honolulu's emergency services. The incident occurred around 1 PM while Perry was taking a break from his duties as an ocean safety lifeguard. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi praised Perry, calling him "a legendary waterman."
