In an emotional interview with "Good Morning America," Lizzette recounted the harrowing events of that fateful day. Fighting through tears, she spoke about the final moments she shared with her husband. "I still can't believe it. A very good man was taken away," she said. Reflecting on Jorge's last words, Lizzette painfully recalled, "The last thing I remember him saying is 'Oh s***.' That’s when I felt the first electric shock. It happened over and over, and I didn't hear him again."

The nightmare didn't end there. As Lizzette explained, several people jumped into the water in an attempt to help, but they too were shocked, rendering their efforts futile. This critical detail forms a cornerstone of the wrongful death lawsuit that Lizzette has filed against the resort. The lawsuit seeks at least $1 million in damages and alleges negligence on the part of the companies responsible for operating, managing, and maintaining the resort's premises.
Lizzette's quest for justice is not just about seeking compensation but also about ensuring accountability. "I'm doing this to force someone to take responsibility and to save another family from the same tragedy," she emphasized.
Despite immediate CPR efforts, Jorge could not be revived and died at the scene. Lizzette, who was pulled from the water without a pulse, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. She has since been recovering, but the emotional scars remain deep.
The attorney general's office in the state of Sonora is currently investigating the incident. As of now, the Sonoran Sea Resort has not provided any official comment regarding the tragic event.
