A shocking accident in Vancouver left two people hospitalized when a small floatplane collided with a pleasure boat. The dramatic event, captured on video, shows the floatplane using the boat as a ramp as it failed to lift off the water in time.
The chaos unfolded on Saturday around 1 PM, when a Harbour Air floatplane was prepping for takeoff. In the video, the plane strikes the boat with such force that it sends the boat spinning toward the plane before it starts to sink. Another angle of the impact, filmed from the back, shows the collision in equally dramatic detail.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the crash, and several nearby boats rushed to assist. A SeaBus crew quickly deployed a life raft as the floatplane sank completely into the water, ensuring help arrived quickly for those involved.
Thankfully, none of the passengers or the pilot aboard the sightseeing tour floatplane were injured. However, two individuals from the pleasure boat required treatment at a hospital for their injuries.
