Donald Trump Receives Warm Reception at UFC 302 Despite Recent Conviction

This past Saturday night, former President Donald Trump attended UFC 302 at the Prudential Center, just two days and ten miles away from the New York City courtroom where he was recently convicted on 34 criminal counts. Despite his legal troubles, Trump received a rousing standing ovation from the packed crowd.

Trump made his entrance shortly after the main card began, escorted by UFC president and close friend Dana White, along with a contingent of Secret Service agents. As he moved to his seat, Trump shook hands with dozens of fans, including Joe Rogan.

Interestingly, not everyone in attendance showed the same enthusiasm. Jets star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was seated with former teammate Marcedes Lewis, remained seated and did not cheer. Rodgers is known to have a close relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a political opponent of Trump, and was even considered as Kennedy’s running mate before he selected Nicole Shanahan instead.

The crowd's favor towards Trump was unmistakable, especially with chants of "F*** Joe Biden" echoing through the arena. Trump took his seat right next to the Octagon, alongside Dana White. Fighter Kevin Holland, fresh off an impressive armbar victory, approached Trump to exchange a few words. Sean Strickland also showed his support for Trump after defeating Paulo Costa.

Trump’s appearance at the event came just over 48 hours after his conviction in New York City. Despite the gravity of the charges, the enthusiastic reaction from the MMA crowd in New Jersey indicates that his popularity remains strong within this community.

It’s clear that Trump's legal issues have not dampened the support he enjoys among his fans, at least within the world of mixed martial arts. The former president's presence at UFC 302 highlighted his enduring appeal and the loyalty of his supporters.
