Sean Paul Reacts to Ice Spice's Upcoming Sampling Track "Gimme The Light"

Grammy-nominated artist Ice Spice is stirring up excitement with her latest musical endeavor, as she prepares to drop a new track featuring a sample from one of Sean Paul's early 2000s hits.

The New York rapper took to social media two weeks ago to announce the imminent release, sharing a tantalizing glimpse of the music video in which she's seen blazing up a doobie in a pink Range Rover with pink interior.

Captioning the post "Gimmie A Light!!! dropping 5/10 pre-save in bio," Ice Spice has certainly piqued the curiosity of fans eagerly awaiting her next move.

The sampled track in question is none other than Sean Paul's 2002 smash hit "Gimme The Light," a dancehall crossover sensation that soared to No. 7 on the Billboard chart, marking a significant milestone in Sean Paul's solo career.

In Ice Spice's upcoming single, this iconic track is given a fresh twist, slowed down with an increased pitch to set the stage for her dynamic verses. This collaboration between two powerhouse artists promises to be a memorable fusion of old-school charm andj contemporary flair.

Ice Spice's new track is slated for release as part of her debut album, "Y2K," a project she recently confirmed to have completed. Although the rapper has yet to announce a specific release date for the album, she has assured fans that it will hit the airwaves sometime in 2024, building anticipation for what promises to be a groundbreaking musical journey.

The 24-year-old artist gave fans a taste of what's to come during her performance at Coachella in April, where she previewed the new song to an electrified audience.

Teasing the track further on Instagram, Ice Spice shared a video of herself mouthing the lyrics while it played in her Sprinter, accompanied by a provocative thirst trap that sent social media into a frenzy.

With the official trailer for the music video set to drop this Friday, excitement is reaching fever pitch among fans eagerly awaiting Ice Spice's next move.

Notably, Sean Paul himself couldn't resist chiming in on the anticipation, reacting to the trailer with a tweet featuring side-eye emojis, tagging Ice Spice and adding an extra layer of intrigue to the impending release.

"Gimme A Light" marks the second track off of Ice Spice's debut album "Y2K," a title that holds special significance as a nod to her birthdate, January 1, 2000.
