NBA YoungBoy Faces New Charges in Prescription Drug Case

NBA YoungBoy, the renowned Baton Rouge rapper, finds himself entangled in a complex legal battle. Utah authorities have slapped him with new RICO charges and denied him bail amidst a prescription drug ring investigation.

Initially confronted with six charges, the rapper now faces a staggering 63 felony charges and misdemeanors. These include identity fraud, possession of a controlled substance, and engaging in a pattern of unlawful activity. The allegations stem from what Cache County, Utah, police describe as a fraudulent scheme orchestrated by NBA YoungBoy, wherein he purportedly posed as a doctor to obtain prescription drugs from local pharmacies.

According to authorities, NBA YoungBoy allegedly operated this scheme while under house arrest at his Salt Lake City residence. Utilizing various individuals to pick up the drugs, he allegedly called in pretending to be a doctor, providing false information about patients.

What's even more alarming is the claim that NBA YoungBoy used the names of well-known and established doctors during these fraudulent calls, as reported by pharmacists who uncovered the scam.

This legal debacle compounds YoungBoy's existing troubles, as he was already awaiting trial in Louisiana for various firearms offenses prior to these developments.

The Weber County Attorney’s Office made a compelling case for YoungBoy to remain in custody, citing him as a flight risk. Their argument resonated with Judge Joseph Bean, who ruled on April 30 to deny bail. The judge pointed to substantial evidence of YoungBoy's involvement in prescription fraud and distribution, as well as his potential danger to the community and risk of flight.

Despite this setback, a glimmer of hope remains as a bail hearing is scheduled for May 9, 2024. NBA YoungBoy currently resides in Cache County jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
