Eminem is back, and he's not holding anything back. On Friday, the legendary rapper released his latest single, "Houdini," and it’s making waves for its bold lyrics and star-studded visuals. This track signals the last hurrah of his Slim Shady persona, with Eminem taking aim at everyone from Dr. Dre and his own kids to Megan Thee Stallion.

"Houdini" harkens back to Eminem’s 2002 classic "Without Me," both in sound and style. The single critiques the modern, politically correct, social media-obsessed society, all while Em dons his iconic Robin outfit. Alongside his Batman, Dr. Dre, Eminem tackles today’s hot topics with his signature irreverence and wit.

The music video for "Houdini" is a slapstick extravaganza, packed with cameos from hip-hop and entertainment heavyweights such as Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, The Alchemist, Pete Davidson, and Shane Gillis. Eminem’s children—Alaina, newlywed Hailie Jade, and Stevie—also make appearances, with Em playfully flipping them the bird.

One of the most talked-about moments in the song is when Eminem references Megan Thee Stallion’s shooting incident with Tory Lanez. In a line that might seem innocuous at first, he raps, “If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me / Would I really have a shot at a feat?” While it might sound like a harmless bar, it touches on a painful subject for Megan, who has previously reacted strongly when other artists mentioned the shooting in their music.

Eminem doesn’t stop there. He also includes digs at the incarcerated R. Kelly and makes controversial remarks about transgender people. Similar lines have previously landed other artists, like J. Cole, in hot water, and it will be interesting to see how fans and critics respond to Eminem’s latest provocations.

Despite—or perhaps because of—his unfiltered approach, many of Eminem’s fans are loving "Houdini." The single showcases Eminem in rare form, blending humor, social commentary, and a bit of nostalgia for his early 2000s heyday.

As "Houdini" climbs the charts, it’s clear that even as he retires the Slim Shady character, Eminem remains a force to be reckoned with in the music world.
