Recently, a shocking incident has emerged from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, involving Érika de Souza pushing her deceased uncle, Paulo Braga, into a bank in a wheelchair, which has sparked widespread astonishment and concern.
Caught on surveillance cameras, de Souza, 42, was seen navigating Braga's lifeless body through a mall before reaching the bank, where she attempted to withdraw 17,000 reais from his account. Inside the bank, she even went as far as placing a pen in Braga's hand and encouraging him to sign a document, despite his obvious state of death.
The bank employees, growing increasingly alarmed, promptly notified the authorities, leading to de Souza's immediate arrest at the scene. Rio de Janeiro Civil Police chief Fábio Souza provided insight into the timeline of events, indicating that cadaver spots found on Braga’s head suggested he had likely been deceased for approximately two hours prior to the incident, raising suspicions that he might have passed away before being brought into the bank.
Investigations are underway regarding the relationship between de Souza and Braga, as she claims to be his niece and caregiver. Described as 'inhumane', de Souza's actions have resulted in charges of attempted theft by fraud and desecration of a corpse. Watch video below 👇👇👇.
During an interview with de Souza, she insisted that Braga had died while they were at the bank, a statement contradicted by law enforcement based on evidence such as livor mortis, indicating a post-mortem process that would have taken around two hours to manifest. This peculiar incident has left both authorities and the public baffled, with Fábio Souza expressing astonishment, noting it as one of the most troubling cases he has encountered in his career.
Efforts are now focused on locating the rideshare driver who transported de Souza and her deceased uncle to the bank. Additionally, authorities are scrutinizing the authenticity of de Souza’s claims about her relationship with Braga, while seeking to identify other potential family members.
